If I had to choose a record of the year 2011, it would be definitely "Space is only noise", the debut album from Nicolas Jaar. The New Yorker, who spent parts of his childhood in Santiago de Chile, started playing organic electronic music in his early teenager years. Since then he receives permanently rave reviews - quite rightly! Since 2009 he runs his own record label, "Clown and Sunset", from which one release is better than the other.

Wish I was in Berlin now, where everybody has the opportunity to see Nico live tomorrow and on Wednesday, when he's playing his "Don't Break My Love Tour / A Clown & Sunset Showcase Part 1 and 2" at Berghain.

My first week in Dublin is over - Thank God It's Friday!!!    I guess it was to expect that my event recommendation for this weekend takes place in Dublin. Tonight you gonna find me in The Mezz, a club in Dublin's famous Temple bar area. The Press2Play Launch Party is taking place in the club's basement, hosting some of the currently hippest Irish DJs as for example Lorcan Mak. In this spirit: Namaste and HELLOOOO DUBLIN!

Finally: Hello from Dublin to all my readers out there!!! I didn't have the opportunity yet to wish you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR and to thank you for reading my blog!

I know it was quiet here the past days, but that's just because I was on the road. I spent New Year's Eve in Berlin, then got back to Belgium last Wednesday, and moved to Dublin on Friday. The Irish capital has me back - I was living here already last year from February till August due to my Master thesis project at the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies (DIAS). My return now has two main reasons:

First of all I gonna work at DIAS again, this time some continuative work on the same project with the aim of writing a scientific paper at the end - I have three months to achieve this.

A second reason is to bring my career as a DJ forward. My friend and mentor Matthew Agius from U-Bahn music is supporting me; we try to get some gigs here in Dublin and play some shows. We'll see how the Irish will treat me! Also, we're working on a website, which will combine everything, including also this blog. I will be of course continuing posting and keep you updated about the happenings on the island!
